Description

The Triple Viper, it’s as mean as it looks! 27 inches long by 1.5 inches wide, made from our Harness Leather, with a CP style triple-layered handle.  The blade is split in to three, giving extra sting to its target.

All our implements are made from our thick Oak Bark Tanned Harness Leather and in a choice of Rich Tobacco Brown or Black. They are hand-crafted from beginning to end, made with care and attention for the perfect piece. It is bevelled and burnished to a glass-smooth  finish, with a saddlers crease around the edge.  Not only amazing to use and feel, but beautiful to the eye too.

Although we try to select the perfect piece of leather for our implements, sometimes the leather does have slight blemishes and grain. Also, because this is a natural material, colour may vary slightly from hide to hide. This however, we feel is what adds to its individual natural character.

This is a surprisingly mean and vicious strap. The photo doesn’t give you a good sense of just how long this thing is. At 27″ even the heavy leather can’t hold it stiff, so there is a lot of movement and flexibility in the strap. For my top, that means that she couldn’t really use it gently even if she was so inclined (to be fair, she never is so inclined). To get a good impact, it really has to be swung fast and hard. When that happens it first feels like a stingy whip. But this thing is 27″ long and so the velocity at the tips must be quite something. That means that the tails tend to wrap around slightly and each one bites into the flesh leaving a very impressive V-shaped weal. After about a dozen (very hard) strokes my right cheek was nicely covered in V-shaped welts that perfectly matched the tips of the strap. I’m sure it’s possible to strike with less ferocity and avoid the weals if desired, but that wasn’t an option for us. After all, why would we own such a fabulous implement if it wasn’t going to be use to its full, devilish potential?!

This is another beautiful piece of work, but a very different implement from the other straps that I’ve bought from London Tanners. Much more bite from the tips and a good, painful overall impact given its length. A great complement to a well stocked tool chest.
