The Wardens Punishment Strap

The Wardens Punishment Strap is a monster of a strap and should only be used by the most experienced players!

Constructed of two 22” x 3” pieces of oak bark tanned harness leather.  A 5.5mm back piece and a 4.5mm front piece.  It is completely hand-stitched all the way round and topped with a CP style handle with a 1” D Ring.

This strap is a real beauty and will deliver a heavy, thuddy feel, due to its size and weight.

Based on a strap used in prisons and reformatories like in the article below taken from The Montreal Gazette, 21 January 1937: Strappings Ordered

Youths Also Receive Prison Terms for Robbery

Peterborough, Ont., January 20. Penitentiary and reformatory terms with 10 strokes of the strap were ordered for two teen-aged youths who pleaded guilty today before Judge Sheldon Smoke on joint charges of attempted armed robbery and assault.
Gordon Druce, 19, was given three years in Kingston Penitentiary and 10 strokes of the strap. John McLennan, 18, was given two years less one day definite and one year indefinite in Ontario Reformatory with 10 strokes of the strap.
The charges arose out of the attempted robbery and assault of Edgar D. Carson, Peterborough grocer, in November. Druce allegedly fired a shot into the grocers left arm.

All our implements are made from our thick Oak Bark Tanned Harness Leather and in a choice of Rich Tobacco Brown or Black. They are hand-crafted from beginning to end, made with care and attention for the perfect piece. It is beveled and burnished to a glass-smooth finish, with a saddlers crease around the edge.  Not only amazing to use and feel, but beautiful to the eye too.

Although we try to select the perfect piece of leather for our implements, sometimes the leather does have slight blemishes and grain. Also, because this is a natural material, colour may vary slightly from hide to hide. This, however, we feel is what adds to its individual natural character.
